Nivin Pauly as Kerala’s Robin Hood in new film

Malayalam cinema’s heartthrob Nivin Pauly has an interesting line up of films. As he awaits the release of his Tamil film Richie, in which he plays a gangster, Nivin will next been seen in a film called Kairali, a true story about the disappearance of a cargo ship. His other interesting project includes director Roshan Andrrews’ upcoming film Kayamkulam Kochunni, which will bring on screen the life of Kerala’s most wanted thief, who was believed to be their Robin Hood. According to a Times of India report, the move will also focus on the relationships and friendships of Kochunni.

Set in the early 90s, the film also stars Amala Paul and debutante Priyanka. Amala’s character played a pivotal role in the life of Kochunni and what’s really interesting is that she didn’t play his love interest. Through the research, the film’s scriptwriter Bobby found out that Kochunni was not merely a thief but he also fought against caste propaganda and cruelty on people from backward communities. Binod Pradhan of Rang De Basanti and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag fame will crank the camera. The rest of the cast and crew will be finalised soon.

The project will go on the floors next month in Uduppi, Karnataka. Nivin is currently shooting for Malayalam film Hey Jude, which marks the debut of actor Trisha Krishnan.
