Nitshill Road crash: Glasgow police name man who died as Barrhead teenager Jay Morrison

Police have this afternoon named the man who tragically died in a crash on Nitshill Road as Barrhead teenager Jay Morrison.

The 19-year-old was rushed to hospital after the incident in the south of Glasgow shortly after 11.30pm on Friday night. However, sadly he could not be saved and passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police continue to appeal for information following the crash and officers are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A police statement issued today (Thursday) advised: "Police Scotland can confirm the identity of a man who has died following a road crash in Glasgow.

"He was 19-year-old Jay Morrison from Barrhead.

"The incident took place around 11.35pm on Friday, 17 September, 2021 on Nitshill Road, near to its junction with Levern Bridge Road.

"Emergency services attended the scene and the 19-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment of injuries where he died in the early hours of Saturday, 18 September, 2021."

Sergeant Kenny Malaney, of Police Scotland’s Glasgow Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Morrison at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 4182 of Friday, 17 September, 2021."
