MUMBAI: Rapidly gaining reputation as one of the better umpires on the international circuit, Indian umpire Nitin Menon will officiate in all the four-Tests of the highly-anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy, which will kick off with the first Test at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur from February 9.
In fact, the Indore-based Menon is the only umpire who will officiate on-field in all the four Tests, even as his colleagues keep changing with every game.
Zimbabwe’s Andrew Pycroft will be the match referee for the first two Tests, while Chris Broad will do the job for the final two games of the iconic series between India and Australia.
As per a noting on the ICC website under the section: ‘ICC Umpire and Referee appointments,’ Menon and English umpire Richard Illingworth will be the on-field umpires in the first Test, while Michael Gough will be the TV umpire.
Michael Gough and Menon will officiate on-field in the second Test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi (from Feb 17-21), with Richard Illingworth being the TV umpire.
Joel Wilson will partner Menon for the on-field duties for the third Test at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala (from March 1-5), with Richard Kettleborough being the TV umpire.
Kettleborough and Menon will officiate in the fourth Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad (from March 9-13), while Joel Wilson will be the TV umpire.
