INDORE: Over a lakh residents of Indore division aged above 30 are undergoing screening for early diagnosis of non-communicable diseases under Nirog Kaya abhiyan daily in September.
The divisional authorities decided to undertake this programme at all government health facilities in division to cover up the gap in screening, diagnosis of NCD’s occurred due to the second wave of COVID-19.
Regional Director (Health services) Indore division DrAshok Dagaria said, “In the next one months 31.70 lakh people aged above 30 will be screened in eight districts of the division for identification of non-communicable disease under Nirog Kaya abhiyan.” The authorities began this campaign to speed up the process during this lull period of COVID-19 pandemic to cover up gaps caused by the second wave of COVID-19, said Dr Dagaria.
Under the campaign, the authorities are looking for diagnosis of NCDs including cancer like oral, cervical, breast, which are prevalent in areas at all levels of government health facilities starting from sub health centres to Urban primary health centres. The other major NCDs prevalent in divisions are diabetes, hypertension, which spiked in several districts in the first couple of months including in Indore.
Indore district reported a doubling of diabetes cases in the first two months of this financial year. TOI reported about this shooting up of diabetes cases in Indore on June 30. The authorities are taking help of health departments’ grass root workers including ASHA, ANM’s, Multi-purpose health Worker, Community health officer, medical officer, who are provided training to fill detailed forms, BP instruments, weighing machine, glucometer, and inch tape.
“Each district is allotted different targets of screening its 30 plus population from September 1 and 30 with maximum being for Khargone with 5.34 lakh”, said Dr Dagaria.
