You still can’t make an afternoon of it in the pub, or while away an evening in a cocktail den.
But the limited relaxation of a few of lockdown’s most stringent rules mean you can, from tomorrow, take a cocktail to the park and make an afternoon of it. Don’t faff about with bottles: try NIO’s cocktails in a box. NIO = needs ice only. And that’s the whole point: these pre-mixed cocktails are presented in slim cardboard cases, a bit like CDs (remember those?). Simply tear the corner and pour yours into a tumbler filled to the brim with ice (no garnish required) and imagine you’re sitting bar-side.
There’s a pick of poisons. Whisky fans: try a heady Old Fashioned, a Manhattan or a Whisky Sour. Ginficionados will enjoy a Gimlet, Gin Sour or a Ginproved (a blend of rose petals, almonds and orange Curaçao). The menu also includes a Negroni, Margarita and Daiquiri.
Get them posted straight through the letterbox in packages of three, six or nine — which should be enough to get any garden party started.
