Ninth day in a row of no coronavirus deaths recorded in Leeds hospitals

There have been no new coronavirus deaths confirmed in Leeds or across the whole of Yorkshire hospitals today (Friday), the latest figures from NHS England show.

It means there have now been nine days since the last coronavirus death in a Leeds hospital, with the total deaths in hospital settings across the city remaining at 340.

It's also the second consecutive day that the Yorkshire region has recorded no new deaths after three new deaths were recorded on Wednesday, which brought an end to a five-day stretch with no new Covid-19 deaths.

It means the total number of deaths across Yorkshire since the start of the outbreak still stands at 2,588.

Five more patients have died with coronavirus across England though, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals nationwide to 29,490.

Three of these deaths were in the North West while one was in the South East and another in the East of England.

The patients who died were aged between 41 and 96 years old and all had underlying health conditions.

Their families have been informed.
