Nintendo will launch TWO new Switch consoles this summer, report claims

In a bid to keep up with its rivals, Nintendo is planning to launch two new Switch consoles this summer, according to a new report.

The Wall Street Journal report cites people ‘familiar with the matter’, and claims that Nintendo could launch a cheaper version of the Switch as well as a more powerful model.

The more enhanced model is rumoured to have ‘enhanced features targeted at avid videogamers’, although it’s unlikely to be powerful enough to compete with either the Xbox One X or PlayStation 4 Pro.

Meanwhile, Nintendo is expected to ditch the vibration functionality in the cheaper version to cut costs.

Further details on the new consoles remain unclear, although the report adds that Nintendo could unveil them at the E3 gaming event in Los Angeles in June.

While Nintendo is yet to confirm or deny the rumours, the news is likely to be welcomed by Nintendo fans.

The original Switch console was released in March 2017, so it’s about time Nintendo released an update!
