Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Revives 100 Pin Bowling Ahead of 2026 Launch

Nintendo is bringing back one of the most memorable activities from the Wii era. The company recently confirmed that 1"00 Pin Bowling" will return in Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, giving longtime fans another chance to chase perfect scores on Wuhu Island.

The news appeared on Nintendo's Japanese website. A newly released screenshot showed the classic bowling mode in action, quickly catching the attention of fans who spent countless hours playing Wii Sports Resort.

For many players, this is one of the biggest reveals surrounding the upcoming sports collection.

'100 Pin Bowling' Returns to Wuhu Island

Unlike standard bowling, "100 Pin Bowling" takes things to another level. Instead of aiming at 10 pins, players face a giant formation made up of 100 pins.

The goal remains the same: knock down as many as possible with each throw. However, the larger setup makes every strike feel far more satisfying.

The mode first appeared in Wii Sports Resort and quickly became a fan favorite. Players who managed to bowl a perfect game could earn an impressive score of 3,000 points.

Its return suggests Nintendo is looking to preserve some of the most beloved features from the original while updating the experience for modern hardware.

Every Sport Confirmed So Far

Nintendo recently revealed the full lineup of sports coming to Nintendo Switch Sports Resort during a Nintendo Direct presentation.

Players can take part in:

  • Boxing
  • Table Tennis
  • Archery
  • Tennis
  • Volleyball
  • Bowling
  • Basketball
  • Golf
  • Thumb Wrestling
  • Skateboarding
  • Power Cruising
  • Prop Plane

There is also a Jump Rope activity that players can use as a warm-up before diving into the larger events.

The variety of sports gives players plenty of ways to enjoy Wuhu Island, whether they prefer competitive matches or casual party-game fun.

Motion Controls Return With New Features

As expected, motion controls remain a major part of the experience.

According to Nintendo Everything, the new Joy-Con 2 controllers can transform into different pieces of sports equipment depending on the activity. In one event, they become tennis rackets. In another, they function as golf clubs, boxing gloves, paddles, or bows.

Each sport comes with its own unique mechanics. Archery requires players to account for wind direction. Basketball focuses on accurate passing and shooting. Prop Plane challenges players to tilt and steer through the skies above Wuhu Island.

Nostalgic Return for Wii Sports Fans

The return of "100 Pin Bowling" is a strong sign that Nintendo understands what fans loved about the original games. Bringing back classic modes while adding new sports could help make Nintendo Switch Sports Resort one of the biggest sports releases on the platform.

Nintendo has scheduled the game for release on October 22, 2026, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.

For fans who grew up with Wii Sports Resort, it may finally be time to head back to Wuhu Island and see if they still have what it takes to score a perfect 3,000 points.
