So far, it's the 7th biggest selling console of all time, trailing behind iconic consoles such as the PlayStation 1 and Nintendo's own portable DS console which sold 154.02 million units throughout its lifetime.

Interest in the Nintendo Switch lineup is likely to perk up again soon with the introduction of the Nintendo Switch OLED which changes the Switch's LCD screen with an improved OLED screen- allowing for better view quality.

The Nintendo Switch OLED is due for release in October, just in time before Christmas where sales are expected to rise sharply.

The console is dominating sales figures compared to its current next-gen competitors- Sony's PS5 has sold 10 million units and Microsoft's Xbox Series X/S has sold 6.5 million units, according to most up to date statistics.
