It’s hard to believe that Splatoon 3 is out relatively soon, meaning more inky mayhem is nearly upon us.
On Monday, Nintendo revealed the Mincemeat Metalworks map for Splatoon 3 (Thanks, VGC). As the name suggests, it’s a massive metallic facility construction yard made of scrap metal. Bizarrely, the whole intent of the area is to produce scrap metal as well. It doesn’t make a lick of sense, but we’re talking about a game where squid children fight with paint. So, you know, let’s not take this too seriously.
“Also, there was a sea here that evaporated,” Nintendo said on Twitter. “Surely unrelated to heavy industry!”
Considering all the anthropomorphic sea creatures in these games, I can’t help but feel the dry seabed note is a sneaky lore drop.
Many long-time Splatoon fans note that Mincemeat Metalworks is massive compared to anything in the first two games. There’s tons of verticality and numerous choke-point-like paths all over. Check out a brief clip of it below.

That industrial crane grabber seen throughout the teaser is curious. I’m willing to bet that it’ll influence the terrain somehow, whether by player actions or random events on the map.
Mincemeat Metalworks isn’t the first Splatoon 3 map shown off, as several weeks ago, we also got a look at Undertow Spillway. This one is pretty big, too, with loads of bumpy obstacles.

Splatoon 3 is coming out Sept. 9, 2022, for Nintendo Switch. If the last gameplay trailer is any indication, it’ll be one solid competitive game.
