Nine teenagers - most believed to be from Western Sydney - have been arrested following a car chase in the Hunter on Wednesday.
Police said all nine will receive penalty infringement notices for failing to comply with COVID public health orders as charges were laid against several members of the ground late on Wednesday.
Port Stephens-Hunter officers began pursuing a Honda Civic after seeing it allegedly travel at an excessive speed on the Hunter Expressway about 11.15am.
Officers followed the vehicle, which allegedly reached speeds of 120km/h in a 90km/h zone - the chase began at Minmi and was terminated for safety reasons at Metcalfe Street in Wallsend.
The car was spotted several times across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie before it was found abandoned at Arthur Street, Cardiff, just after midday.
Police found and arrested nine people, including a 19-year-old woman and eight teenagers - aged between 13 and 17.
"While this incident occurred across various locations, it demonstrates the great team work between all our police officers, regardless of district boundaries - we are one team protecting the people of the Hunter," Lake Macquarie police commander Superintendent Danny Sullivan said on Wednesday.
Following inquiries, a 19-year-old woman and eight teenagers - aged between 13 and 17 - were arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station.
Police charged the woman with travelling in a stolen car and breaching bail. She was refused bail to face Newcastle Local Court on Thursday.
A boy, 15, was charged with drive recklessly, police pursuit and speed or drive in a manner dangerous, stealing a car and not giving details to another driver after an accident.
He will face a children's court while another teenager, 16, was charged with breaching bail and travelling in a stolen car. That youth received conditional bail will face a children' court on Monday.
The other six youths will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act, police said.
