Nine staff members at Barlinnie prison test positive for coronavirus

A total of nine members of staff at Scotland's largest prison have now tested positive for coronavirus.

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) said a further 24 workers at Barlinnie prison in Glasgow are self-isolating as a precaution in the outbreak.

Two inmates have also been confirmed as positive cases, no change from the weekend figures.

All 256 prisoners in A Hall are self-isolating, with visits banned until October 20.

The rest of the prison is not affected by the outbreak or ban.

Elsewhere, one member of staff has tested positive for the virus at the Young Offenders Institution in Polmont.

The SPS said 21 other workers are isolating as a precaution as well as 13 prisoners, who are all adult women.
