Nine residents at Clydebank care home die from suspected coronavirus

Nine residents at a care home in Clydebank have died from suspected coronavirus.

The deaths have all occurred since the start of April at Hill View care home, as reports the BBC.

A further 16 residents are displaying symptoms of the virus and are currently being "barrier nursed" by staff at the home, which has 127 residents.

Operators Advinia said the deaths all occurred in the home.

A Hill View spokesman told the BBC: "Every death is a great loss and our most heartfelt condolences go to each resident's family and friends - they are all in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time.

"Regrettably, like many care homes across the country, we are now seeing an increase in cases of Covid-19 as the virus reaches its peak."

The news comes a day after it emerged that three residents at a Glasgow City Council run care home are in hospital with the virus.

10 workers at Hawthorn House resident facility in the Possilpark area are also self isolating.
