Nine players will leave Liverpool this summer - with Bobby Adekanye offered new contract

Liverpool have confirmed the departure of nine first-team and Academy players after their retained list was released.

But the Reds have offered Bobby Adekanye a new deal despite the 20-year-old winger having previously said he would not sign a new deal amid apparent interest from Italian side Lazio and former club Barcelona.

Adekanye, signed from the Catalans in 2017, hasn't featured for Liverpool's under-23 since November after making clear his stance to the club.

The Reds have made the move to protect themselves in terms of gaining compensation should the player opt to leave.

The departures of Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno were announced earlier this week, both senior players having not been offered a new deal as they approach the end of their current contracts.

They are joined by Academy graduate Connor Randall, who played eight times under Jurgen Klopp, and goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, who made six appearances but none since May 2016. Both were on the bench for Klopp's first game at Tottenham Hotspur in October 2015.

Academy quintet Juanma, Conor Masterson, Glen McAuley, Corey Whelan and Ben Williams will also leave Anfield this summer.

However, as well as Adekanye, Liverpool have offered new deals to young goalkeeper Daniel Atherton, defender George Johnston, winger Abdi Sharif and midfielder Edvard Tagseth.
