As many as nine boroughs in London have made a top ten list of the worst places to live in the UK.
Barking and Dagenham, on the eastern outskirts of London, came first in the damning poll based on a survey of residents’ satisfaction covering 130 places.
Participants of the poll were asked to consider 12 aspects about where they lived: its decor, space, contentment, value, community, area upkeep, pride, costs, safety, amenities, recreation, and neighbourliness.
The east London borough came bottom in categories including community, area upkeep, safety, amenity and neighbourliness.
The result followed research published earlier this year which showed that Dagenham is the UK’s most burgled town, The Telegraph reported.
Dissatisfaction wasn’t just a problem in the east however, as the western borough of Hounslow came second in the survey of over 24,000 people by Rightmove.

Further north from Hounslow, the boroughs of Brent and Harrow were voted third and fourth worst.
In fifth place was the east London borough of Newham, which is one of four boroughs which the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park occupies.
Luton, which is in Bedfordshire, came in at eight, and was the only place on the list that is not in London.
The disappointing result for the capital came after a study showed that is it potentially cheaper for Londoners to commute to the city from Madrid, based on the fact that on average a Londoner who worked in Liverpool Street spent £2,016 a month on rent and travel expenses.
As London boroughs wallow on the “miserable” list, the Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate has topped the Rightmove list of the happiest place to live for the third year running.
