Nine months of work to improve cycling and walking routes on Old Market Roundabout is set to begin later this month.
A key part of the scheme is the creation of a new shared path for both cyclists and pedestrians through the centre of the roundabout.
The aim of the new path is to improve safety and access to the city centre for pedestrians, cyclists and wheelchair users.
Work will also include widening crossing points at the roundabout, as well as installing LED lighting to illuminate the route and removing the remaining parts of the historic underpass.

The pedestrian subways under Old Market Roundabout were filled-in and put out of use back in 2015.
But over the next nine months all remnants of the subway will be removed entirely and new toucan crossings will be installed to allow people to cross safely.
This final package of works follows on from extensive work to improve pedestrian and cycle routes, and improve the look and feel of the area over the last five years, TravelWest has said.
It will also help to connect the existing cycle route at Castle Park into the newly completed segregated cycleway at Bond St South, which forms part of the East-West cycle route from the city centre into the Bristol and Bath Railway path.
Work on this final stage is set to begin on Monday, July 22 and is due to be completed in March next year.

Most of the construction is expected to take place off-road, but there will be some lane restrictions in place throughout the work to maintain safety for the workforce.
The lane restrictions are only going to be enforced during off-peak times.
Pedestrians will be asked to follow a signposted diversion route whilst construction takes place.
