Police officers work at the scene outside Bondi Junction following reports of stabbings in the mall, in Sydney

Tragedy struck at Sydney's Westfield Bondi Junction shopping mall as a mass stabbing attack left a total of eight victims hospitalized. Among the injured is a nine-month-old baby who underwent surgery for their injuries.

New South Wales police commissioner Karen Webb confirmed that the victims are currently receiving treatment for various injuries at hospitals across Sydney. The severity of the injuries sustained by the victims has not been disclosed.

Regrettably, six individuals lost their lives in the attack. The suspect responsible for the violence was shot dead by authorities, bringing the harrowing incident to a close.

The motive behind the attack remains under investigation as authorities work to piece together the events that led to this tragic outcome. The community is left in shock and mourning as they come to terms with the senseless violence that unfolded at the shopping mall.

Efforts are being made to provide support to the victims and their families during this difficult time. Counseling services and resources are being made available to help those affected cope with the aftermath of the attack.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward and assist in the pursuit of justice. The safety and well-being of the community remain a top priority as measures are taken to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
