Bride and groom injured after balcony collapses at wedding reception

A bride and groom were among nine people injured after plunging from a wooden balcony which collapsed at their wedding reception tonight.

The revellers have been rushed to hospital after the horror in a remote farm building at posh estate Domaine de Grangeneuve in Sart-Bernard, Belgium.

Three guests are thought to be in a "serious" condition, local publications report.

But the newlyweds somehow escaped severe wounds in the accident, caused after the structure gave way suddenly.

Shocked witnesses told local media the guests plunged around two metres.

Emergency services, including seven ambulances, remain at the scene.

Domaine de Grangeneuve spokesman Dany Weverbergh wrote in French on the estate's Facebook page.

It translates to English loosely as;

"Around 17 pm, the newlyweds and a few guests are mounted on the balcony of a local neighbour of the wedding room.

"There are 9 injured, three of which are more seriously reached.

"Their days are not in danger.

"After a few hand care, the bride has been able to join the groom who is not hurt."

One well-wisher wrote on Facebook: "It is unfortunately a shame for the injured.
