CHENNAI: Nine people were arrested on Monday for their involvement in a series of robberies targeting mobile phones in Anna Nagar, Kodungaiyur, and north Chennai areas.
In New Washermenpet, a police team apprehended Nagu alias Rajendran, 21, of Manali, after tracking him with CCTV feed. Subsequently, his aides Tajjuddin, 21, and Mohammad Salman, 20, of Nethaji Nagar in Tondiarpet were arrested for buying stolen mobiles. All three wer remanded in jail.
In Anna Nagar, police arrested Nagalingam, 20, Suryah, 19, Jana, 19, and Leviyar, 21, for being involved in a series of robbery cases. Police seized a knife, a bike, and ?40,000 in cash. In Kodungaiyur, police apprehended Tamilarasan, 20, of Perambur and Moosa Khan, 22, of Kanniga Puram for robbing a businessman of his mobile phone. Police used CCTV feed to zero in on the robbers.
