Officers have slammed time wasters after a woman from Cheshire was arrested after nine repeat emergency calls to police overnight.
A total of nine 999 calls were made to Cheshire Constabulary’s Force Control Room – with seven occurring between 5.09am to 5.55am on September 6. Officers were deployed and attended an address in the Clover Place area of Chester. A 47-year-old woman from Great Sutton was arrested on suspicion of wasting police time.
She remains in custody being questioned by officers.

Service Delivery Manager of the Force Control Centre David McMahon said: “Misuse of the emergency number is not acceptable. The time that our call handlers spend dealing with inappropriate 999 calls can be the difference between life and death for those members of the public who may be trying to contact us with genuine emergencies to receive the urgent help they need.”
If you are a victim of crime you should contact Cheshire Police in the following ways: call 999 if there is an immediate threat to life or property or call 101 for non-emergencies
