Nine dodgy Edinburgh pubs from back in the day that had some stories to tell

There were certain boozers in Edinburgh back in the day with less-than-friendly reputations where you had to keep your wits about you.

For the most part these less salubrious establishments are long gone and in many cases have been replaced by gentrified gastro pubs and trendy wine bars, but the memories of the capital's most notorious drinking haunts live on.

Take for example, the story of a Leith pub that kept a puma in the back in a cage, or the Craigmillar tavern whose security team included an Alsatian on the roof. Or how about the North Edinburgh boozer that sold pints in plastic tumblers to avoid punters glassing one another?
