The Otop Midyear 2019 will kick off this Saturday at Challenger Hall 1-3, Impact Muang Thong Thani.
Organised by the Department of Community Development (DCD), the nine-day fair will run until June 23.
Otop stands for One Tambon One Product. It is the government project to upgrade the quality of local products nationwide. The products are selected and certified by DCD. Otop goods are graded by stars from three to five.
The theme of this year's fair is "Otop Signature". DCD aims to promote Thainess.
According to DCD, there will be 3,000 retailers who will offer more than 10,000 Otop items, including handmade arts, crafts and food. The highlights are an exhibition to honour His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and the Otop Prestige zone, which will present select premium products that are available onboard Thai Airways.
There will also be a section for Otop Trade, an Otop Health & Spa zone with traditional-massage services, and Otop Nawatwithi to promote tourism in the communities that produce Otop products. There will be a new section called Otop Indy to show trendy products created by young developers. Otop Food, which includes a food court, will be located on both ends of the fair.
DCD expects the event will generate more than a billion baht in total revenue.
Otop Midyear 2019 will open 10am-9pm, from June 15 until 23. Entrance fee is free.
