Key West is always a good-time kind of town, and while you never really need an excuse to visit, like with any popular travel destination finding an affordable hotel can sometimes present a challenge. Though there’s no shortage of options to choose from at every budget, if you’re looking to save your money for the bars on Duval Street, here are nine hotels—priced under $250 a night—to consider for your next trip to Key West.
Old Town Manor
Just a block away from the raucous of Duval Street and Key West hot spots the likes of Sloppy Joe’s and Margaritaville, Old Town Manor (formerly Eaton Lodge) features 14 uniquely themed rooms and is one of the best budget options (at about $150 per night) in the heart of the action.
Heron House
Just a block away from Duval Street in historic old Key West, Heron House is an adults-only boutique hotel that’s perfect for a romantic getaway for two. Ensconced amid swaying palm trees and lush tropical landscape, this Southern-style hidden gem is also affordably priced at an average rate of $139 per night.
The Perry Hotel Key West
Just a short drive from downtown Key West on nearby Stock Island, The Perry Hotel Key West opened in 2017 and perfectly embodies the old-world charm of the Florida Keys with all the modern luxuries you’d expect at a chic beach resort. Eat “boat-to-table” at the Salty Oyster or try some coastal comfort food like shrimp and grits at Matt’s Stock Island Kitchen & Bar. Either way, The Perry (where rooms start at about $150 a night) is one of the most elegant options to choose from in Key West.
NYAH (Not Your Average Hotel)
Why stay somewhere basic when you can stay at NYAH—or “Not Your Average Hotel?” NYAH (where the average nightly rate is $175) features 36 uniquely appointed rooms and is a great option for groups due to its “Build Your Own Room” concept, which allows guests to stay and add additional beds in the same room at no additional charge. Along with a daily happy hour at 4:20 pm, several pools and hot tubs, this is a great option for budget travelers and the bachelor/ette party set in Key West.
Eden House
Set in historic old town, Eden House has been a Key West mainstay since it was opened by Mike Eden in 1975. With a complimentary cocktail hour and on-site Mediterranean restaurant Azur, this hotel (where the average rate is around $185 a night) is a cozy home away from home.
Havana Cabana Key West
Located on the waterfront overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, Havana Cabana Resort reopened in 2018 and is one of the best budget hotels in town. Formerly known as The Inn At Key West, the Cuban-themed resort (where the average nightly rate is around $145) features 106 rooms, elegant tropical decor and the largest swimming pool in Key West. Family suites are also available and the hotel is also extremely pet-friendly (for a fee), making this an easy, breezy spot to soak up some sun on your next trip to the Keys.
Alexander’s Guesthouse
For those interested in an LGBTQ-friendly option, or if you just want something extremely stylish and affordable to boot, then look no further than Alexander’s Guest House. A restored Key West Conch house built in 1902, today Alexander’s is one of the Key’s most adorable and affordable options (around $220 a night), right in the heart of historic Key West.
Island City House Hotel
Opened in 1889, Island City House Hotel is one of the oldest guesthouses in Key West. It’s also one of the most charming. Surrounded by lush landscape and plantation-style decor, the hotel comprises three separate buildings including the Cigar House, the Island City House and The Arch House. With a resident cat named Burt, as well as guest rooms adorned with a private porch and hammock, this is a great low-cost (around $170 a night) option just a short walk from the seaport in downtown Key West.
