Nile Rodgers’ Meltdown Festival 2019: How to get tickets to see Thundercat and KOKOROKO live

Nile Rodgers has announced the first round of acts for Meltdown Festival 2019.

The legendary musician is curating this year’s programme, which takes place at the Southbank Centre from August 3-11 and includes live music, arts and free events.

The artists joining Rodgers & Chic on the on the bill the summer will include the likes of Thundercat, KOKOROKO, Alfa Mist and Durand Jones & The Indications.

SOPHIE, Annita and Songhoy Blues will also feature, while DJ Jellybean Benitez will evoke the spirit of legendary nightclub Studio 54.

More acts will be announced over the coming months.

Rodgers is the latest name to take charge of the festival, following the likes of The Cure’s Robert Smith, John Peel, David Bowie, Nick Cave, Patti Smith, Yoko Ono and David Byrne.

Speaking about Meltdown, Rodgers said: “It’s an honour for me to step into the shoes of David Bowie, Patti Smith, Ornette Coleman, Robert Smith and so many more to curate nine nights of amazing music for the people of London on its glorious South Bank. This is my home from home and it’s given me so much love and this is my way of giving back.”

How to get Meltdown tickets

Meltdown tickets go on general sale at 10am on Tuesday May 14. They can be bought here.

Tickets go on sale to Southbank Centre Members a day earlier, at 10am on Monday 13 May.
