Nikola Katic steps up Rangers return as injury-hit defender returns to the grass

Croatian defender Nikola Katic has stepped up his return to action by getting out on the grass.

The centre back has missed the entire season after suffering an ACL injury in pre-season and has spent much of the campaign back in his homeland undergoing rehab.

He's had to watch on as his Rangers team-mates sealed the league title but he could be back in action for Steven Gerrard's men for the start of next season after getting back to running on a pitch.

Katic has posted plenty of images and videos of him on a bike indoors as he looked to get himself fit and ready to make a comeback.

But getting back on the grass is a major step for any player looking to get back to full fitness and Katic posted a video of him out running on his Instagram page.

He can be seen in Croatia wearing his Rangers training kit and doing laps of a pitch as he builds up the strength in his knee and appeared to be taking it all in his stride.

Last week, Katic delighted Rangers fans by sharing an image with former Ibrox striker Nikica Jelavic after the pair enjoyed lunch together.
