Nikola Katic slaps down Rangers transfer chatter as Croatian defender insists he's got 'many more to come'

Rangers defender Nikola Katic has addressed recent transfer speculation – and chatter of a permanent exit appear wide of the mark.

Over the weekend rumours circulated that the Croatian's time was up at Ibrox with Steven Gerrard said to be allegedly keen on moving him on permanently.

But over the course of Sunday those claims were quashed by a Glasgow Live report and now by the player himself on social media.

He's had to fight hard to overcome a brutal knee injury that kept him out for the entirety of last term's run to the Premiership title.

Katic has played just 45 minutes for the club in a pre-season friendly against Brighton.

He also got some B team action under his belt in the SPFL Trust trophy this week but first-team competitive minutes have been hard to come by.

However, he's promised fans on Instagram he'll be back to join Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun, Filip Helander and Jack Simpson in the Rangers rearguard.

A post on Sunday night showed him celebrating against Motherwell at Fir Park with Gerrard applauding in the background.

And the caption, paired with a winking face, was unequivocal: "Many more like this to come."
