Nikola Katic sends Rangers message as on-loan defender proves Ibrox is still on his mind

Niko Katic was watching on as Rangers beat Livingston 3-1 on Sunday.

The centre back is on loan at Croatian side Hadjuk Split for the season, but he's been keeping a close eye on his parent club.

Katic shared a story to his 105 thousand followers on Instagram of him watching the Scottish Premiership clash at the Tony Macaroni Arena - and he even added in three Union Flag emojis to the post.

The Croat has not held back in his support for the champions since leaving on loan.

Two weeks ago he posted on social media thanking Steven Gerrard for helping him improve as a player, after the manager left for Aston Villa.

Posting a video on Instagram of the pair hugging after a win at Celtic Park, Katic said: "True gentleman and top manager.

"Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience and improving me as a player and a person.

"Wish you and your team nothing but the best in new chapter."

Gerrard replied to the post, saying: "Love you kid", with two blue love heart emojis.

Rangers retained a recall option for January on the central defender, who has made 59 appearances and scored six goals for the club.

With Filip Helander injured, Connor Goldson struggling with form, and potential Africa Cup of Nations call ups for both Calvin Bassey and Leon Balogun - new gaffer Giovanni van Bronckhorst might find himself considering that recall.
