Nikola Katic relishes Celtic and Rangers 'spectacle' as defender makes 'better team' assertion

Rangers defender Nikola Katic believes they've proved they can "definitely handle" Celtic as he looks forward to a "spectacle" tomorrow.

The Gers beat their city rivals twice last season, and while they lost the Betfred Cup final they emerged with a lot of credit for their performance.

Croatian website Gol sent a reporter out to interview the centre-back and compatriot Borna Barisic about the title showdown, and the former is in confident mood.

Katic said: "It's going to be a spectacle given that the goal difference gap is so small.

"In previous games we've shown we're a better team than Rangers were a few years ago, that we've got more quality now and we can definitely handle them (Celtic)."

Barisic was also interviewed by the website and the left-back talked up the qualities of Steven Gerrard.

He stated: "It really is a pleasure to come to training every day and watch him.

"There's a lot to be learned from him, because his mentality is the one he acquired at Liverpool.

"That really shows and the fact he shows and conveys that to us is a big deal.

"This is a really big club. Only someone who comes here and experiences it, as some of my friends and family have done, gets that full experience.

"Only then do you see how big this club is and you can really feel that at all times, not just inside the club but outside too."

Barisic could be playing for Croatia at Hampden at Euro 2020 and he is sure Croat fans will be impressed with his adopted city.

"They'll definitely have a good time here because the people are really kind and polite, so I'm sure they'll get a generous welcome.

"They really rate us highly as a national team so everything will definitely be at the top level."
