Nikola Katic Rangers loan terms explained as Hajduk Split clear up recall confusion

Hajduk Split have confirmed that Nikola Katic can be recalled from his loan spell in January.

The Rangers centre-back returned to his native Croatia on deadline day, but there was confusion over the exact terms.

Split announced that they had an option to buy in the deal while Katic's parent club stated he could rejoin Steven Gerrard 's squad in January.

It's understood that both things are in place, with the permanent option only kicking in at the end of the season.

And Hajduk have confirmed Rangers could recall him in the next transfer window, or they could cancel the loan deal too.

Nikolicius said: "The contract is a loan with the offer of a recall. We can do the same, that's the way these things happen in loan deals like this.

"Nikola had other offers. He is a big signing for Hajduk.

"A great defender who can get his way into the national team if he plays well for us and returns to the level he was at when he was with Rangers.

"He is feeling good and is fully fit. He has been in full training for several months already.

"I think our fans will love him."

Katic joined Rangers from Slaven Belupo in 2018 but missed the entirety of last season with a serious knee injury as his team-mates lifted the Premiership title.
