Nikola Jokic looks almost unrecognizable after slimming down during the NBA stoppage

It’s been three months since the NBA suspended its season amid Rudy Gobert’s positive test for the coronavirus, and it certainly seems like Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic has made the most out of his time off.

Jokic entered the season listed at 284 pounds, but in recent weeks, Nuggets players and front office had raved about the shape Jokic would be in for the NBA’s July restart.

Nuggets president Tim Connelly said last week of Jokic, “He sent me a picture. No shirt on. He’s got abs. I’ve never seen him have abs before.”

Well, the rumors appear to be true because Jokic looks like a different person now.

For context, this was what Jokic looked like at the start of the season:

We don’t know exactly what Jokic did to shed all that weight. I assume he ate better and exercised, but, like, that’s quite the transformation in 12 weeks.

It remains to be seen if a slimmed-down Jokic will be as effective in the post, but nobody is going to be concerned about his fitness for the Orlando restart. He’s ready to play.
