'Nikita's hysterics on Married At First Sight let slip her desperation to be famous'

It only takes a few seconds of screen time to realise that Nikita Jasmine is the epitome of every reality show you've watched in the past decade.

There is a need for confrontation, a need for hysterics and a need to be the newest diva on the block.

From Geordie Shore to Love Island via a helping of Big Brother's more explosive moments, Nikita seems determined to make the already controversial concept of Married At First Sight her own spectacle.

Finding love is a twisted path and after a group of hopeless romantics scrabbled around for weeks in a Majorcan villa to find their perfect partner, Nikita opted for the short cut to the altar by marrying a man without meeting him or even clapping eyes on him first.

Nikita knew exactly what she wanted in her husband - and was furious when she was paired with Ant because he "wasn't what I ordered" (Channel 4)

Obviously, this is the premise of the E4 show that has gained notoriety Down Under with the Australian version, but Nikita is trying too hard to forge a potent mix of all that she's watched in the world of reality TV in the hope that this will bring her fame - or at least infamy.

She has admitted that her childhood was in a noisy house where tempers were short and whoever shouted loudest was king of the hill.

Throw in a friendship with a group of Geordie Shore stalwarts and you have a combination which might lead to thinking that reality is the real world.

So Nikita looks like she's trying to produce the perfect performance, cherry-picking all the best moments she's watched on TV since she was a teen.

Her new husband Ant hit it on the head when he said that the desire for Instagram likes is driving her to behave in an extreme way to get her noticed among the crowd.

But she doesn't need to do this.

Nikita has shown in glimpses that she's a warm and funny personality and if she can leave her diva desires on the doorstep, there could be a fulfilling future in which her heart fills with love and is not ruled by a head that wants to be known for TV chaos.

Who knows whether her marriage will last after an explosive start, but if she can take off the blinkers, she might just see that there are other paths worth taking that will be ultimately more fulfilling.

She might not owe it to her new husband but she certainly owes it to herself to be real and not the person she believes these reality shows expect her to be.
