Nike offer Liverpool reminder with new away kit release

Liverpool are back in ecru as the new 2021/2022 away kit is a throwback to the Reds’ 1996/1997 campaign.

Nike are taking Liverpool back to 90s as the new kit for the upcoming season is. a nod to a popular shirt.

The new kit seems inspired by the Reebok away kit worn by Roy Evans’ Liverpool in 1996/1997, which has become a cult classic among supporters.

The kit is predominantly ecru with red and black colouring for the badges and sponsors with a dark blue polo neck with red and ecru detailing.

The original 1996/1997 shirt was worn by Liverpool legends such as Robbie Fowler and John Barnes is still a firm favourite amongst supporters due to its retro feel.

As well as the home release from Nike, the replica jerseys for the fans have been constructed with 100% recycled polyester fabric, which is made from recycled plastic bottles.

Plastic bottles are collected, cleaned and melted down to produce a high-quality yarn for manufacturing and is part of Nike’s wider Move to Zero initiative, with football apparel leading the way in sustainability.

The new away and training kit will be available for pre-order online from the official Liverpool FC online store and will go on general sale for purchase in-store and online from Thursday 15 July.
