Nike celebrates Odell Beckham teaming up with Jarvis Landry in dramatic new ad

Odell Beckham Jr. was officially introduced by the Browns on Monday with his first press conference in Cleveland. He had Baker Mayfield, Myles Garrett and childhood friend Jarvis Landry by his side.

To celebrate the occasion, Nike dropped its latest installment to the “Just Do It” ad campaign. The company revealed a commercial called “Shared Dream,” which followed Beckham’s and Landry’s paths to the Browns … all accompanied by some Agnes Obel.

The commercial is well done and goes for the emotional reaction that we’ve come to expect from Nike ads, but really, this was a pretty dramatic way of saying that two friends are now playing on the same football team. And that football team happens to be the Browns.

The ad didn’t exactly come together with the “ready to make history” line. The Browns are stacked, but Landry essentially put up role-player numbers in 2018. Tyler Boyd and T.Y. Hilton had more receiving yards and touchdowns. He was 64th in yards per reception last season. Landry is good, but he’s not a generational superstar like Beckham. What history are they going to make exactly?

The commercial overrates Landry, but it’s still cool that he gets to play on the same team as his friend. We’ll give him that.
