Nightmare neighbour and dad-of-five boasted he 'owned street' in terrifying campaign

A father-of-five has been warned by a Judge that he must be "squeaky clean" after he threatening to set his neighbour’s house on fire and kill him.

Dane Parr, 38, appeared in Hull Crown Court facing 14 separate offences of being drunk and disorderly over several months, MEN Media reports.

The neighbour from hell was accused of making his neighbours’ lives a "misery" because of his alcohol issues.

He admitted harassment and using threatening words or behaviour across a number of loud, late night disturbances which left locals cowering in their homes in Bridlington.

He was heard shouting and kicking his own door between 2.30am and 6am on October 21, the court heard.

Then on November 10, a neighbour was in bed at 9pm when he heard Parr shouting heard Parr shouting that he was going to set fire to the man's house.

Parr shouted: "Come out of the house. I am going to kill you."

Another neighbour challenged Parr, who told him that he "owned the street".

The police arrived and Parr ran back inside his home. He was arrested and taken in handcuffs to a police van but, even after being warned about his antics, he continued to shout threats to the first man, saying that he was going to stamp on his head, he was going to get him and that he was dead.

One of the neighbours later said in a statement: "This has made me and my partner fear being in our own home. It seems to be an ongoing issue that won't stop. I still fear that he will one day post something through my letter box, setting the house on fire.

"I do not want to feel this in my own home address. I should not be in fear whilst at home. Significant problems have been caused for me." There had been problems with Parr since August last year.

Parr had convictions for 82 previous offences, including 14 of being drunk and disorderly, and two others of assaulting police in 2005 and 2017.

Cathy Kioko-Gilligan, mitigating, said that Parr lost his job "when the pandemic struck" and he returned to drinking.

"It's clear that he has long-standing issues with alcohol," said Miss Kioko-Gilligan.

"As a result of that, he commits offences and he knows full well that he must address his alcohol misuse. He bitterly regrets his behaviour. This was an appalling offence."

Parr had a "long-suffering partner" and they had five children aged 18 years to 14 months. "They are hoping to move," said Miss Kioko-Gilligan.

Judge Mark Bury said: "He is making his neighbour's life a misery."

"You have been committing offences fairly regularly throughout your life. The problem you have got is that you drink too much and, when you get drunk, you behave badly."

Instead of apologising to his neighbours for causing a disturbance and waking them up, he was aggressive. He then threatened to set fire to a neighbour's house and to kill him.

Parr was given a 10-month suspended prison sentence, 120 hours' unpaid work, 15 days' rehabilitation and a five-year restraining order banning him from being troublesome to the neighbours.

"You have got to be squeaky clean as far as they are concerned," said Judge Bury.

"You just give them a wide berth. While you are living next door to these neighbours, you are in the last chance saloon. You make sure that you don't let yourself down, your family down or you don't upset the neighbours."
