Commuters from Ayrshire to Glasgow are facing lengthy delays after a horror multi-vehicle smash on the M77.
Emergency services raced to the scene on the motorway's northbound between Junction 6 Kingswell Road and Junction 7 Clunch Road
Police have blocked off the outside side lane following the accident about 7am.
They say that at up to eight vehicles could be involved in the incident.
One four by four vehicle can been scene crashed into the barrier and another vehicle has been wrecked in the smash.
At least two police vehicles have blocked off the outside lane.
And one ambulance was quickly on the scene
One commuter said: "The traffic is at a standstill.
"It is gridlock
"Cars are going nowhere.
"It is a nightmare journey.
"I have had to call ahead to my work to let them know I am going to be late coming in this morning.
"It could take couple of hours for this to clear."
Drivers should avoid the area if possible.
