Nightclub floods after water pipe bursts, prompting evacuation

Revellers have been evacuated from an Adelaide nightclub after a water pipe, believed to have been damaged by a patron, caused the club to flood on Sunday morning.

Just after 5:00am, police and emergency services were called out to the Fat Controller nightclub on North Terrace after reports of flooding.

All patrons were evacuated and police said there were no injuries.

Zoe O'Callaghan, who was in the club at the time, said there were not many people left inside, but security moved quickly to evacuate the premises.

"People were just sitting where it burst, then security came round telling everyone to get out," she said.

The flooding spread to the nearby underpass that commuters use to get from Adelaide Railway Station to the Station Arcade.

Police said they were investigating whether the water pipe was deliberately damaged by a patron at the club.

They are working with the venue to get CCTV footage to identify the person potentially responsible.

Police are calling on anyone who was at the club at the time of the flooding to contact them.
