'Night prowlers' strike again as Dublin residents re-warned of gang following and preying on locals

Warnings to southsiders have been doubled down on as more reports of 'night prowlers' creeping around in frightening attacks emerging with residents warned once again to look after their homes.

Locals in Terenure, especially the Greenlea Avenue and Parkmore Drive area were urgently warned by neighbourhood watch on Monday to ensure doors and windows are locked at all times even if you're in the house.

As well as this, they have pleaded with people to make sure their alarms and lights are working after a three-strong gang were spotted "jumping walls and checking doors and windows".

The suspicious activity of the group have been reported to Gardai who are keeping an extra eye on the area since the reports.

It is understood that they managed to make their way into various back gardens and were caught on CCTV while also trying several cars in the area during the operation.

An urgent text alert sent to residents in the area reads: "Sorry to report there were prowlers in the area on Sunday night. Three guys were spotted at 4.20am, jumping back walls and checking doors and windows. Please be safe and lock up."

It continues: "It seems they were in number of back gardens on the shop end. So anything from there down. Then crossed the road to a house on Rugby club side. Not sure which direction then.

"They were also checking cars on Parkmore at 4am and gardai arrived at the scene. My own car boot was open but nothing taken."

It comes just a couple of days after locals in Kilternan and Ballybetagh were also alerted about a gang of 3-4 people who have been targeting vulnerable people as part of the spate of attempted break-ins.

A message alert was also issued to those in that area to "be alert" with details of a suspected car used in the operation also issued in the message.

It said: "Three or four prowlers have been reported in just one hour, and they even have a getaway car.

"Gardai have been informed. Make sure to check everywhere is locked and lights are working."

It continued: "Check also on any vulnerable neighbours and please call the Gardai straight away if you see anything suspicious."
