Jan. 30--Thousands of people are expected to pack downtown's historic Broadway corridor Saturday night to celebrate the area's ongoing revitalization.
The "Night on Broadway" event will span eight city blocks and offer music, art, food trucks and more from 5 to 11 p.m.
The free street festival, which will fill Broadway between 3rd Street and Olympic Boulevard, also will feature access to historic theaters, a kids' zone and a five-story Ferris wheel, organizers said.
"There will be so much going on at 'Night on Broadway' in the historic theaters and on the street that no two people will have the exact same experience," Los Angeles City Councilman Jos須uizar said. "Tonight, we are going to showcase the best in art and entertainment on one of the city's most historic corridors, which was once the entertainment and commercial capital of Los Angeles."
The event will mark the eighth anniversary of Huizar's "Bringing Back Broadway" initiative, a 10-year plan to pump life back into the area.
Broadway will be closed to traffic between 3rd and 7th streets for the festival, organizers said. A stage with live entertainment will anchor the northern end of the festival at 3rd Street.
