Night of chaos in Dublin city as Gardai gather around stabbed young teen after large gangs clash

These were the distressing scenes on our streets last night as gardai gathered around a young teen who was stabbed after large gangs clashed in the city.

Groups from the inner city and south Dublin went toe-to-toe on Beckett Bridge near the Convention Centre where the stabbing took place on Monday.

Dublin Live understands that the mid-teen stabbing victim was slashed in the leg by a young attacker armed with a Stanley knife.

The teen was taken to the Mater Hospital where his injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

Several units from Store Street and Pearse Street Garda stations remained at the scene for hours as they tried to calm tensions between the dozens of kids.

A source told Dublin Live: "These types of clashes are happening every night between these gangs but it's about to get worse.

"One young teen was stabbed in the leg and ended up in hospital.

"This has been going on for weeks where young lads are meeting on the bridge for organised fights.

"This happens up to two to three times a week. Dozens and dozens of young people on bikes who are able to flee the scene quickly when cops come."

A garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Garda Units from Store Street and Pearse Street Garda Stations are currently responding to a public order incident involving a large number of youths.

"The incident occurred on the Samuel Beckett Bridge, Dublin City Centre this evening, Monday 22nd March 2021. A male has been taken to the Mater Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

"No arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing. No further information is available at this time."
