As winter approaches for many of us, the nights draw in and our cityscapes light up. This month, Paris’ Nuit Blanche, Berlin’s Festival of Lights and Prague’s Signal Light Festival have all illuminated the urban landscapes.
We asked you to share your photos from cities around the world at night. From the bright signs of Osaka in Japan to the luminous night markets in Marrakech, you showed us an array of familiar – and more hidden – nocturnal cityscapes.
Cologne, Germany
Kölner Dom & Hauptbahnhof
On the way from London to Hanover we got stranded in Cologne thanks to an unannounced rail strike in Belgium. Courtesy of German Rail, who had sent coaches to Brussels, we stayed at an hotel opposite the station in Cologne where this view made up for turning a 12-hour journey with a 2-year old into one twice as long!
Seattle, USA

I took this while waiting for my wife outside our Seattle hotel.

It took me a while to realise that there was a seagull sitting on the water, right in the corner.
