Andhra Pradesh: Uniform curfew timings from Monday

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to have uniform curfew timings across the state from Tuesday.

The curfew hours in East Godavari and West Godavari districts, where the Covid-19 positive cases were more till the other day, were also brought under the uniform timings, as the cases have come down in the last 24 hours.

The curfew hours to remain from 10pm to 6am every day in all the 13 districts from Tuesday.

However, the government has decided to impose a penal amount of Rs 100 on everyone if found without mask.

The rule is to be imposed even in the rural areas to ensure that safety measures are observed across the state.

The government has also decided to clamp prohibitory orders across the state under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code to prevent mass gathering of the people.

The decision was taken by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy during a review meeting on Covid-19 situation in the state at his Tadepalli camp office on Monday.

The government also decided to ensure that the shops and other establishments also strictly followed the compulsory mask system.

If any shop fails, they would be forced to close for minimum three days.

The state government would open a toll free number for the people to give information on any person or institution not following the Covid 19 guidelines.

The government would act on such people and institutions including imposition of penal amount.

The chief minister also directed the officials to give vaccination to the teachers on priority before the schools are reopened for the current academic year.

He wanted the officials to open vaccination camps in the respective college and school to complete the vaccination drive. This would include even private institutions, the chief minister said.

The officials told the chief minister that so far 1, 31,43,873 persons were given vaccination of which 96,83,544 were given single dose and 34,60,329 double dose.

They also informed the chief minister that vaccination drive for the pregnant woman and lactating mothers was in progress in the state.

The chief minister told the officials to be cautious about the non-covid diseases and ensure that the seasonal fevers and other virus infections are not reported in the state.

He wanted them to alert the medical and health staff and the government hospitals to focus on non-covid cases.

He alerted the officials on the possible raise of snake bites in Machilipatnam and Avanigadda areas of Krishna district and other parts of the agency areas in the state due to the onset of the monsoon.

He told the officials to keep the medicine ready at the primary health centres in these respective areas.
