Nigerian president and wife welcomed by King and Queen in first state visit for 37 years

• King Charles and Queen Camilla, alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales, welcomed Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife for the first state visit by a West African nation to the UK in nearly 40 years.
• The ceremonial welcome at Windsor featured over 1,000 troops, with the royals and Nigerian dignitaries travelling in state coaches through Windsor, amidst extensive security measures.
• The Princess of Wales wore a grey coat dress by British-Nigerian designer Tolu Coker, while the Queen sported a pink dress and brooches belonging to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
• This marks the first state visit by a Nigerian leader in 37 years and the first by a Muslim leader during Ramadan in nearly a century, with President Tinubu set to break his fast before a state banquet.
