EYE ON AFRICA © FRANCE 24

Nigeria's president makes his first public statement about the recent protests against policy brutality in the country. Muhammadu Buhari says he regrets the loss of life, but calls on young people to stand down. Also, at least seven people have been killed and 40 more injured in intercommunal violence in an Ivory Coast port town near Abidjan since Monday, ahead of the October 31 presidential election. And Tanzania is a week away from its elections. The opposition is going up against incumbent President John Magufuli.
