Nigel Sears is conscious, receiving medical treatment and reportedly talking after collapsing during the Australian Open.
Sears coaches Ana Ivanovic and was in the stands watching her match with Madison Keys when he fell ill and had to be to be stretchered away. Ivanovic appeared distressed on the court and soon departed the Rod Laver Arena. The match was suspended for an hour before resuming again.
Sears, father of Andy Murray’s wife Kim, required treatment from medics in the stands after he collapsed when returning to his seat, according to Australian broadcasters Channel 7
Jaime Murray, Andy Murray's brother, told the Press Association the 58-year-old is “sitting up and talking” in hospital where he is undergoing tests.
Murray is playing against Joao Sousa and is not aware of his father-in-law’s collapse. Kim, who is heavily pregnant, is not in Melbourne.
