Nigel Pearson explains why Han-Noah Massengo has missed Bristol City's clash against Fulham

Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson has confirmed that Han-Noah Massengo is out of the Robins clash with Fulham at Ashton Gate due to injury and could be out for up to two weeks.

Massengo has been in excellent form for City playing in a variety of roles in midfield and his place in the team against the Cottagers was taken by Nahki Wells with Andi Weimann expected to move into midfield.

The 20-year-old was seen entering the Players Lounge at Ashton Gate shortly before confirmation of the starting line-ups and had a brief conversation with Robins owner Steve Lansdown.

"If you remember at the end of the QPR game he had a bit of a problem and we'll just have to see how that develops over the next few days and maybe a couple of weeks, but we'll see how that goes," Pearson said.

"He's had a really good start to the season and the way he plays means he's going to pick up problems from time to time but one player's disappointment is another's opportunity."

Bermudian international Wells makes his first Championship start of the season after scoring the injury-time winner against QPR last weekend.

Jay Dasilva is the other change from the City XI which beat QPR with the 23-year-old replacing Nathan Baker who was an injury doubt on Friday due to an ankle knock. That indicated Pearson returning to a back four having fielded three centre-backs in west London.

Callum O'Dowda also made his first appearance in the matchday squad since the opening day of the season having recovered from injury.

Bristol City (4-4-2): Dan Bentley; George Tanner, Tomas Kalas, Rob Atkinson, Jay Dasilva; Andi Weimann, Matty James, Tyreeq Bakinson, Cam Pring; Chris Martin, Nahki Wells; Substitutes: Max O'Leary, Danny Simpson, Joe Williams, Andy King, Callum O'Dowda, Nathan Baker, Kasey Palmer
