Nigel Owens earns widespread plaudits for marvellous put down of homophobic tweet

Nigel Owens has won universal plaudits for his Grand Slam-winning comeback from a anti-gay post the Welsh referee received on social media.

The 2015 World Cup final official made an emotional appearance on talkSPORT radio this week when he discussed the mental struggles of being gay.

He also touched on the Israel Folau homophobic controversey gripping rugby at present.

Popular Wales Online columnist Nigel received support following his radio interview, but there was also one London poster called CJ.

He tweeted: "Couldn't think of anything worse me naked in the shower knowing a gay boy is sat there watching me."

In true Nigel fashion, Owens responded brilliantly to the homophobic post by saying simply: "Please don’t worry my friend.

"We gay boys have standards, so there is no danger of anyone of us looking at you in any other way than as just another human being.

"I hope your Mrs has not read your tweet, or she will think that you look at every girl you see in a sexual way.Xx"

Within minutes Nigel's account was clogged with huge plaudits for his response.
