Nigel Martyn makes Leeds United transfer declaration ahead of Championship season

Nigel Martyn says Leeds United are right to bring in fresh faces to Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are gunning for promotion once again after faltering in the play-offs last season.

The Argentinian has moved to strengthen his side this summer, with three new additions and familiar faces returning.

Leeds have signed Helder Costa on loan from Wolves with an obligation to buy and Ben White on loan from Brighton so far this summer.

Jack Clarke has rejoined the club for the season following his £8.5 million move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Jack Harrison has also come back from Manchester City for another temporary spell, while Carlisle United starlet Liam McCarron has joined the Whites and young duo Rafa Mujica and Guillermo Amor have arrived from Barcelona.

Striker Patrick Bamford, then, should be aided plenty as he bids to spearhead Leeds' return to the Premier League.

“I’d like to see some fresh faces in the summer," Martyn said.

"I know he (Bielsa) plays a good style of football, keeping the ball, and to be able to do that, you probably need five in midfield.

"At that standard, that enables you to keep the ball, but Bamford, Roofe or whoever is upfront, sometimes gets a little bit isolated.”

Nigel Martyn was speaking to VoucherCodes.co.uk  as part of their Greatest Savers campaign.
