Nigel Farage splashes 'unimaginable cash' on private jet jaunt to Scotland

NIGEL Farage has travelled to Aberdeen by private jet as part of his campaign ahead of a key by-election in central Scotland.

The Reform UK leader arrived in the north around 9am from Farnborough, according to flightradar24.

The same plane departed Aberdeen and headed to Glasgow this afternoon, before returning to Farnborough from Glasgow at around 4pm.

Farage flew with FlyWales, a private air charter company, which is based in Farnborough and markets itself on "a seamless and luxurious experience" to avoid airport queues and "crowded cabins".

The company also includes onboard catering, with "premium" snacks and beverages.

Greens co-leader Patrick Harvie said: “Farage is a multi-millionaire who works for the interests of the billionaires. As people across Scotland suffer skyrocketing rents and high energy bills, it is galling to see him splashing unimaginable cash to jet to Scotland in a private plane.

“Farage represents the dangerous politics of prejudice, division and environmental vandalism. Scotland deserves so much better than this.

“For too long, governments have allowed extreme wealth to be concentrated in the hands of an elite few instead of serving the public good.

“Money that could be used to fund our hospitals, schools, and services needed to alleviate child poverty are instead spent on yachts, private jets and buying up land which should belong to communities.

“For too long, people like Nigel Farage and his cronies have been hoarding wealth whilst everyone else suffers. The Scottish Greens have always been clear. It’s beyond time for the super-rich like Farage to pay their fair share.”

Meanwhile, SNP MSP George Adam said the private jet jaunt showed "how out of touch this multi-millionaire is with the people of Scotland".

“Nigel Farage doesn’t care about Scotland," he told The National. "He poses a threat to our values and must be stopped, and only the SNP can do that."

The trip is his first north of the Border since he attended a campaign event for the Brexit Party in 2019.

His visit to Edinburgh in 2013 descended into chaos after the former Ukip leader had to take refuge in a pub in the Royal Mile after he was protested by independence supporters.

The Reform MP had to be rescued by police in a riot van.

Reform UK have been contacted for comment.
