Nigel Farage rages at 'lockdown lunacy' following police visit over coronavirus travel breach

Nigel Farage has blasted police over a visit he received from officers over claims he breached coronavirus lockdown guidance.

Mr Farage went on social media to describe how police officers had visited him over his non-essential trip to Dover during the nationwide shutdown.

He called it 'lockdown lunacy' in a message to followers.

The former Ukip leader said officers had knocked on his door following complaints allegedly made against him. reports BirminghamLive.

Mr Farage earlier uploaded a video showing him at the Port of Dover reporting on the "illegal migrant scandal".

His film followed reports that dozens of migrants had been rescued from the English Channel after a rise in the number of people attempting to reach the UK in small boats.

He tweeted: "Lockdown lunacy. Two police officers just knocked on my door to advise me on essential travel."

The politician continued: "They had received a complaint that I had been to Dover to report on the illegal migrant scandal taking place. What a total waste of time and money."

The alleegd complaint came after Mr Farage, in a video for his YouTube channel, said: “East Sussex Police last week were bombarded by complaints that I’d broken the lockdown.”

In the video chip, he claimed he had been carrying out “broadcasting” duties and described himself as a “key worker”.

Just a few days ago, he posted a bizarre pot-bashing video during the Clap for our Carers event.

Mr Farage posted a short video to his Twitter account in which he is seen tapping a pot and looking up and down his quiet street.

At the end of the 15-second clip, Mr Farage, who is dressed in brown cords and a burgundy jumper, can be heard saying 'very good'.
