Nigel Farage mocked after moaning Biden celebrations 'look like Jesus has returned'

Nigel Farage has been mocked on social media after moaning that the celebrations for Joe Biden's presidency 'look like Jesus has returned'.

A fan of Donald Trump, former Brexit Party leader Mr Farage even bet £10,000 his pal would win a second term in office.

But it appears Mr Farage might be a sore loser after Pennsylvania pushed Biden to victory.

Celebrations have broken out across America, with people seen dancing in the streets outside the White House, in Philadelphia and in apartment blocks across Manhattan, as Mr Biden was declared the 46th president of the USA.

Taking to twitter Mr Farage tweeted: "Four years ago when Trump won, broadcasters showed scenes of people in shock and crying.

"Today, a Biden declaration shows coverage that would make you think Jesus had returned."

But his remarks were laughed at as more than 2,000 people quoted his tweet, the majority making jokes at his expense.

Chris Doyle replied: "Dear Nige, Can we have a picture of you in shock and crying? Promise to spread."

And Kate Smurthwaite added: "Yes Nigel it’s almost as though a lot of people really hate racism. Have you only just noticed?"

James said: "People are just relieved that someone normal is in charge. Doesn’t line up with your ideals, get that.

"But the pendulum is swinging back old bean. When that happens, people such as your good self lose."

And Dean Burnett added: "If Jesus did literally return you'd be on the news within minutes condemning him as a socialist and calling for him to be deported."

While the Mirror's own political correspondent Mikey Smith reminded us: "Cut him some slack. He’s just lost ten grand."
